(EUA-CDE) is pleased to invite you to a series of online events dedicated to the impact of the current crisis on doctoral education and the functioning of doctoral schools and similar structures.
These special members-only sessions will take place between 3-12 June 2020.
Following the outbreak of Covid-19 in Europe, doctoral schools and similar structures have responded proactively and adapted their ways of working. However, such a fast-moving crisis has brought a number of challenges: laboratories are shut down, mobility is disrupted, doctoral defences are being restructured, and grant extensions for completing research results on schedule are not fully allocated.
In this difficult time, the exchange of good practices and reflection within our EUA-CDE community of more than 250 universities from 36 countries is more important than ever. We, therefore, invite you to participate in the following series of online sessions:
Online assessment and doctoral dissertation defence

Online skills training
Friday, 5 June 2020 at 11:00 – 12:15 CEST
Supporting doctoral candidates’ mental health and well-being
Thursday, 11 June 2020 at 13:00 – 14:15 CEST
The effect on collaborations and funding of doctoral education
Friday, 12 June 2020 at 14:00 – 15:15 CEST

During these online sessions, participants will be invited to participate in small discussion groups and to share their experiences with regard to the four proposed topics. They will be invited to present good practices, explore possible solutions and reflect on the future implications for the research sector.
The sessions will be of interest to anyone with responsibilities and interest in doctoral education at the institutional, faculty or discipline-specific level, including academic leaders, doctoral education professionals and research department staff.
The deadline to register is 1 June.
Participation in the sessions is reserved to EUA-CDE members and limited in number. Places will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
